Iron in the Vegan Diet

Iron is another nutrient that new vegans and vegetarians are often concerned about. Fortunately, there are many excellent plant sources of iron. Our recently-updated article, Iron in the Vegan Diet, contains a list of the iron content of selected vegan foods, a comparison of iron sources, and some sample menus that provide more than the daily recommended amount of iron.

    I am glad you decided to write this, A client of mine who is a Vegan had concerns about Iron, as obviously he only gets non-heme iron which is less well obsorted by the body. It is very interesting that you note Vitamin C helps this obsortion and I am sure this will allay his concerns.

    I have ordered your book “Simply Vegan” from Amazon :)

    Really good write up, it was something I was always wondering as you get a lot of iron from red meats, but I was never to sure how a vegan would get iron.
