Together with Mayor Eric Adams, they recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/office-of-the-mayor\/news\/063-22\/mayor-adams-nyc-health-hospitals-expand-access-lifestyle-medicine-services-city-wide#\/0\">announced<\/a>\nthat they are expanding their lifestyle medicine program to six public health\nsites in New York City. These programs will be modeled after NYC Health +\nHospitals\u2018 Plant-Based Lifestyle Medicine Program at NYC Health +\nHospitals\/Bellevue. Over the coming year, the program will expand to serve\nadults at Jacobi, Lincoln, Woodhull, Kings County, and Elmhurst hospitals, as\nwell as Gotham Health, Vanderbilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to NYC Health + Hospitals\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nychealthandhospitals.org\/services\/plant-based-lifestyle-medicine-program\/\">website<\/a>,\nthe plant-based lifestyle medicine program focuses on a healthy plant-based\ndiet, exercise, stress reduction, healthy sleep, social connections and\navoidance of risky substances such as tobacco.&nbsp;\nThe program is administered by plant-based doctors, registered\ndietitians, and health coaches. It includes individual consultations and group\nclasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program defines a plant-based diet as, \u201ca diet centered\naround vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, lentils, peas, nuts, and seeds.\nIt minimizes or avoids animal foods, sweets, and highly processed foods.\u201d\nIndividuals joining the program should be interested in moving toward a more\nplant-based diet.
