Reed states, \u201cWhile no one wants to get sick, foodborne illnesses are an especial concern during pregnancy. Changes in the immune system in pregnancy result in an increased risk for illness. Listeria, a foodborne illness, can cause miscarriage, premature delivery, stillbirth, and serious sickness for a newborn baby.
