Vegetariana

By Nava Atlas

With its wonderful recipes and gorgeous hand-drawn illustrations, this was one of my favorite cookbooks when it was first published in in 1984. Newly updated, the book is now completely vegan. Some of the recipes you'll find are Hearty Barley-Bean Soup, Asian-Style Cucumber Salad, Sesame-Ginger Dressing, Baked Corn Enchiladas, Cincinnati Chili Mac, Moroccan-Style Carrots, and Poached Pears with Chocolate Drizzle. At the end of the book you'll find a section describing herbs and spices, which is an interesting read. Also, enjoy the historical quotes throughout the book.
