This book is for readers who don't live in an apartment building. If you have the desire to build a masonry oven and bake your own hearth loaves of bread, you'll find this book extremely helpful. Learn how to make fermented dough using a sourdough starter and how to construct masonry ovens to prepare delicious bread. Just reading through this book made me crave a good loaf of bread! You'll also find numerous photos of masonry ovens that you can build in your yard.

GUIDE TO WILD FOODS AND USEFUL PLANTS

Have you ever gone hiking and wondered which plants you walked by were edible? If so, Guide to Wild Foods and Useful Plants would be a valuable reference book. This guide defines various wild foods and includes black and white drawings to help identify each plant. The only drawback for vegetarians is that the book contains a handful of recipes that are not veggie-friendly. Nevertheless, this book is a very interesting read.

EASY VEGAN COOKING

Easy Vegan Cooking contains more than 350 recipes from many different categories. The recipes mainly comprise standard fare; few would be considered adventurous or exotic by most standards.

A chapter on American Breakfast and British Afternoon Tea is included, and another chapter is devoted to the use of ready-made health food products such as dried burger mixes.

No nutritional information is included, but recipe quantites are given in both the metric and US equivalents.

Easy Vegan Cooking (ISBN 0-7225-3696-8) is 219 pages and can be found in bookstores. It is published by Harper Collins, London, and retails for $13.00 in the United States and $19.95 in Canada.
