2) MARCH FOR SCIENCE

The March for Science is a celebration of science and a call to support and safeguard the scientific community. The characterization of science as a partisan issue, which has given policymakers permission to reject evidence, is a critical matter. This is an opportunity for people who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to take a public stand and be counted. See:

3) MARYLAND BILL TO ALLOW STUDENTS OUT OF ANIMAL DISSECTIONS

According to Channel 2 in Baltimore:

The Maryland Senate has voted down a bill that would have allowed students to opt out of animal dissections.

13 senators voted for the bill, and thirty against. See:

Registration is open for the 2017 Baltimore Vegan Living Program!

The Vegan Living Program (VLP) is a series of educational events that cover the hows and whys of vegan living, including the ethical and environmental implications of vegan lifestyles, nutrition, cooking, meal planning, and living vegan in a not-yet-vegan world.

Each spring, we host Vegan Pledges who pledge to live vegan for the 6-week program, with the help of volunteer Vegan Coaches. Vegan Pledges receive a binder full of resources and recipes, and a goody bag of free vegan stuff to make the transition easier and more fun! Open the Cages Alliance holds a VLP in Baltimore, and a sister program on Long Island in New York. The 2017 Baltimore Vegan Pledge will take place April 15th - May 20th, 2017. 8) SCPA VEGAN DRINKS IN PA

SCPA Vegan Drinks is a recently founded vegan event that hopes to connect the diverse group of regional vegans through in-person social interaction and support local and regional vegan food and drink options.

There are monthly dining events that rotate between the Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster areas. All are welcome, although all attendees will be expected to eat vegan at the event. Transitioning and merely curious pre-vegans are welcome, though expect most attendees to be various stages of vegan or transition to vegan.

This month, on March 19th, The Belvedere Inn was kind enough to create a small vegan menu. Options would include: Sweet Potato Tacos with crispy sweet potatoes, corn tortillas, mashed avocado, pickled red onions, pico de gallo, and cilantro. Also on the menu are quinoa meatballs with zucchini pasta, made with basil marinara, spaghetti squash, mixed mushrooms, and wilted kale.

The event will be held on Sunday, March 19th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at

The Belvedere Inn
402 N. Queen St.
Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17603
